The Sacred Shringar Sequence: Dressing Thakorji with Vatsalya Bhav

By Pandit Radhavallabh Das•September 28, 2026•6 min read

In the Pushtimargiya and Braj traditions, daily Shringar is offered during the morning Mangala and Shringar Darshan. It is considered an intimate offering of love rather than external ritual.

The sacred sequence begins with gentle snan using fragrant water or panchamrit, followed by drying with pure soft muslin cloth.

First, the pure cotton undergarment (Kachhni) is secured. Then the main poshak is tied with sacred ribbons. Great care is taken not to press too tightly.

Next comes the Shringar: the pearl necklace (Haar) is placed gently against the chest, accompanied by meenakari bangles on both lotus hands, and payal on the lotus feet.

Finally, the crown (Mukut or Pagdi) adorned with a natural peacock feather (Morpankh) is placed, followed by the divine silver bansuri (flute) nestled in the right hand. When you hold up the mirror (Arsi) to the deity at the conclusion, it brings supreme bliss.
