Festival Colors & Fabrics: What Poshak to Offer on Festivals and Seasons

By Vrindavan Artisan Collective•September 15, 2026•5 min read

According to ancient temple calendars in Vrindavan and Nathdwara, the color of Thakorji’s poshak follows the cosmic rhythm of seasons (Rutus) and sacred festivals.

During the sweltering summer months (Grishma), offering white cotton, cooling chandan prints, and pastel mint-green malmal poshaks brings comfort to the deity.

In the monsoon (Varsha / Hariyali Teej), lush peacock green (Harit), indigo blue, and cloud-colored dresses are celebrated with swings (Jhula Seva).

For Janmashtami and Basant Panchami, pure yellow Pitambar with gold zardozi gota work is considered auspicious and supreme.

During Sharad Purnima, immaculate silver and moon-white brocade is offered, while chilly winter months (Hemant and Shishir) welcome royal maroon velvet, saffron wool, and plush quilted angrakhis.
